Hold Your Fire
Men and all that walks on two legs
are such fickle creatures
They're a little more than spark and flint
Smashing against each other to survive
Seeking a flame that cannot last the night
Thus is the thrill of life
Nothing but a spectacular show of gold and red
That when set aflight recedes
To ash and dust
Crash if you must
Strike if you need
If that's what it takes to feel something real
But what if we just stood still
Under the sun
Whether you be rock or tree
Drinking our fill
This warmth might not ignite our bones
But it emanates a glow
Far long lasting than flame
Of greater value than gold
Yes for that which is greater and we should seek. Beautiful
