Second Nature
"Our deepest fear, is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us..." - Marianne Williamson
I cannot consider myself too long
Confront my reflection and all its hidden crevices
Truly take it all in
Before I open a portal, to a great beyond
Home to no mortal
Here, here, here!
Is my greatest fear...
Blinding, translucent
In the distance, it hisses
And spews promises
Belly laden with ripened fruit
Air thickened with sweet perfume
It draws near, oh so magnetic
And I know, just know it's going to eat me too
My first instinct, is to shrink
Find myself a different skin
I slip it on like armor - except
This threat, it comes from within.
